Hi! My name is Madeline Caswell and I was a senior at Kellam High School this past year. I have always had a love for storytelling, but words weren't always my strong suit, so I decided to try and use a camera to put my perspectives into the world. Upon graduating I became more and more passionate about videography and photography, this led me to seeking a mentor, a chance to learn more and become better. Seeing Elite's instagram (@elitephotography) and hearing of Jason through friends that had worked with him for things such as senior photos led me to asking him if he would be willing to let me to shadow him on a job to see the process instagram didn't necessarily show.
Me having the time of my life at Color wars hosted by Elite Photography. If you want to see more photos and a pretty cool video I made from the day (shameless self plug) go check out Rainbows and Squirt Guns!
This led to me being invited to go participate in Color Wars, an event that was new to the Elite Photography Company but was run incredibly. I ended up making a short video edit that showed how much fun we all had down on the beach (once again shameless self plug go check out the other awesome blog about it.. AND MY VIDEO!). After this event I ended up getting the opportunity to come back to Elite and work as an assistant. This has led me to be able to work on things like....
In my time working here I have learned a lot. One of the things that I learned very quickly was how hard our staff works. They want to make sure everyone has the best experience possible. From senior portraits for schools like First Colonial or Cox, family pictures down on the beach, or if you just call with a question about our location in Norfolk, they always leave a long lasting (positive) impression on our clients. Another thing I have learned is all of the discipline that goes into creating the images that are produced. A business like this is so much more than pushing a button and printing an image. From long nights of editing to the craziest schedule you've ever seen, Jason and the staff here at Elite do an incredible job of making this more than a place to get pictures. They make this an experience I think everyone should have.
